{"id":22,"date":"2020-07-25T05:52:14","date_gmt":"2020-07-25T05:52:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.transformationfund.org.uk\/?page_id=22"},"modified":"2020-10-14T06:06:42","modified_gmt":"2020-10-14T06:06:42","slug":"about-transformation-fund","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.transformationfund.org.uk\/about-transformation-fund","title":{"rendered":"About Transformation Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>What is the Transformation fund?<\/h2>\n<p>The Transformation Fund delivers on commitments made in\u00a0The Learning Revolution White Paper, which announced a new approach to improving people&#8217;s lives and prosperity though learning for pleasure.<\/p>\n<p>The Government&#8217;s \u00a320m Transformation Fund to support informal adult learning &#8211; learning for pleasure, self-development and community development awarded money to a wide range of projects all with the objective of seeing creative learning flourish across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The projects introduced a range of innovative adult learning initiatives for the benefit of a wide range of communities and individuals.<\/p>\n<p>A series of \u2018Early Bird&#8217; bids were awarded with 18 projects sharing \u00a31 million of the fund. Single parent families, carers, black and ethnic minorities and disadvantaged communities all benefited from this funding with the remaining \u00a319 million to be distributed amongst a variety of other projects.<\/p>\n<p>The Transformation Fund facilitated new partnerships between public, private and community organisations to create informal learning activities which:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>encouraged more and different people into informal learning, particularly people from disadvantaged groups;<\/li>\n<li>opened up access to learning in new places, in new ways and at more flexible times;<\/li>\n<li>supported people to set up self-organised groups and learning clubs;<\/li>\n<li>widened choice, by developing and sharing innovative content;<\/li>\n<li>built partnerships and strengthen the capacity of informal adult learning organisations;<\/li>\n<li>improved connections and progression between different kinds of learning; and<\/li>\n<li>made better use of broadcasting and technology to stimulate and support learning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Who managed the Transformation Fund?<\/h2>\n<p>The tender to manage the Transformation Fund was awarded to the\u00a0National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE)\u00a0which co-ordinated the distribution of the \u00a319 million grant fund.<\/p>\n<p>Alan Tuckett, Chief Executive of NIACE, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;NIACE is proud to have had the role of supporting the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills in managing the Transformation Fund. We argued in our response to the Informal Learning Consultation that there is no better stimulus for local adult learning providers than the creation of a fund to trigger innovation and new partnerships.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is the Transformation fund?
