Newbury Community Resource Centre implemented a voucher scheme to introduce taster sessions to people who would not normally access the learning at the centre. The centre already offered a wide range of learning opportunities but this scheme widened the reach to new learners. Local organisations from all sectors were invited to recruit new learners. In total 67 learners participated in the project undertaking a total of 204 sessions. Almost all learners were unemployed people and over half were disabled people. Sessions had a strong employability focus and included woodwork and furniture repair, electrics, re-upholstery, warehousing, customer care, horticulture and healthy and safety. The centre aimed to ensure the sessions were accessible to all and delivered at an individual pace.
