Digital Inclusion Project
SIFA Fireside
This digital inclusion project aimed to work with disadvantaged people, especially homeless people or social housing tenants, to provide them with the opportunity to develop ICT skills in order to promote social inclusion. The project delivered sessions on an informal ‘drop in' basis, run by a Social Inclusion Worker in conjunction with an IT tutor. Learning was in small groups with individualised support. Learners developed skills in accessing emails and the Internet, and used ICT to explore personal interest such as family history. The project also organised two guided tours of Birmingham's Central Library focusing on access to the Learning Centre, IT facilities, and Health Exchange Centre; and one visit to Birmingham City College for learners for learners to gain information, advice and guidance other learning opportunities.
