This project, led by Redcar and Cleveland Adult Learning Service, opened up new spaces to deliver informal adult learning to the heart of the community. 18 partnerships were developed across the private, public and voluntary sector, to deliver taster sessions in digital media, creative and performing arts, and complementary therapies to people from areas of deprivation. All taster sessions offered progression to free Skills for Life courses with the Adult Learning Service. As well as using existing learning centres such as libraries and school, three vacant retail premises were repurposed to showcase participants’ skills and provide effective outreach.
