Portsmouth Informal Learning project
Portsmouth City Council
‘Partnerships for Informal Learning’ was a partnership project between Portsmouth City Council and a range of local private, third sector and local authority organisations. The project offered new learning opportunities across a range of spaces and environments within the city, to those not normally engaged in informal learning such as black and minority ethnic communities, unemployed people and the digitally excluded. The project reported an increase in both learner confidence and progression, and a rise in the number of volunteers/ learning champions. The project enhanced digital inclusion, created social learning spaces and improved learner communication skills through peer-learning groups, and enabled job-seeking skills development.
