Learnival

Pertemps People Development Group
Pertemps, in partnership with a range of cross-sector organisations in Birmingham, developed ‘Learnival’, a series of learning road-shows, designed to engage those adults who had not previously engaged with learning; particularly lone Parents, older learners, disadvantaged groups and Black and Minority Ethnic groups. The “Learnival” took learning into the communities of adult learners of all age groups across the West Midlands through offering a variety of activities, such as digital learning, arts and crafts, cookery and health and fitness. Informal learning activities were delivered as a means of both attracting learners, and encouraging sustained learning through sign-posting to other informal learning opportunities, formal learning and/or learning networks within their local community. The project utilised gaming technology, Nintendo DS, and established e-learning resources (Learn direct) to support informal learning activities; positive outcomes included improved health and wellbeing, digital literacy, and community cohesion and participation.
