The aim of the Milton Keynes Festival of Learning was, through a partnership between statutory and third sector organisations, to provide informal learning taster sessions to both encourage adults to develop their confidence, be inspired to continue to develop their skills, and to use the opportunities for learning to consult learners about the region’s AL plan (2010/11). The project targeted adults who were suffering depression, homeless or in deprived communities, lacking in ICT skills or older learners not involved in their community within the Milton Keynes area. The project developed an adult learning online portal and provided tasters in computer/ Internet and wider digital literacy skills, health and wellbeing education, local history, book clubs, digital reminiscence projects, employability and financial literacy skills, football, cookery and art. The project also enhanced citizenship and Skills for Life, and strengthened the strategic partnership in the region.
