Leonard Cheshire Disability
Leonard Cheshire Disability
The aim of this project was to provide an inclusive and varied programme of semi-structured learning activities for physically disabled people in Leonard Cheshire residential care settings, with high levels of learner support. Activities on offer included archery, boxercise, yoga and meditation, digital photography, performing arts (including a theatre performance), a visit to the Roman Baths, woodwork and arts. The learning was designed to help learners improve their health and well-being, independence and self-confidence, to help learners meet others and to build bridges to more structured learning opportunities at local educational institutions in the future. Wiltshire College provided the tutors. Lezan, a private company, provided the specially adapted transport to enable learners, many of whom used wheelchairs, to access learning away from their residential settings.
