I Transform
Leeds Museums and Galleries
During the I Transform project, Leeds Museum service worked across a range of community-based adult learning groups at three Leeds Museum Service sites to enable learners to pursue their passions, explore the sites, develop their interests, and produce materials for three interactive tables that would be permanently incorporated into the interpretation at each of the sites. Community groups created information for interactive digital screens and ipods at three Leeds Museums and Galleries’ sites, providing multimedia interpretations of the content/ experience. The development of community-led content was facilitated by museum staff, and allowed learner to choose artists and art forms to work with, interesting elements of the sites to focus on, and have a great deal of autonomy over the final interactive table content. The project helped learners develop digital literacy skills, enhance community cohesion through developing relationships between the museums and the community, and provided different (more contemporary) interpretations to stimulate new interest.
