Greeniversity
Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT)
In partnership with private, public and third sector organisations, PECT developed ‘Greeniversity’, a project designed to help people in Peterborough learn a variety of skills related to living in a more sustainable way. The project delivered courses related to sustainable living, supported by the site www.greeniversity.org.uk, which both enabled trainers to advertise courses and learners to sign up, in addition to providing a space where both groups could communicate and share learning materials and experiences. The project targeted all learners in the Peterborough area, and trained a group of mentors to assist those with poorer computer skills; new members were offered their own personal mentor to help them become comfortable with the website or project. The project promoted sustainable living, digital literacy, health and wellbeing, citizenship and skills for life. Participants celebrated their success with a ‘green graduation’ ceremony.
