What are the transforming ideas for the future?

A free event not to be missed!

Friday 26 February 2010
Birmingham: Lakeside Centre, Aston University, Birmingham B4 7ET

The Transformation Fund has put £20 million into Informal Adult Learning across England. The projects are many and varied, there has been fantastic and interesting work going on and NIACE and the government really want to hear about it and about your views on the future for Informal Adult Learning. What comes out of this conference will be used by NIACE as evidence to put to government and to shape future policy.

• What works well in other parts of the country?
• Are other people struggling with the same issues as us?
• What are the transforming ideas for the future?
• How can we get the messages of what matters to adult learners to a wider audience?

These questions, and many more, are the backdrop to an innovative and exciting event that NIACE is hosting at the end of February.

This conference is an opportunity for organisations that have benefited from the Transformation Fund to come together to share ideas, work on common issues and identify ways forward.

The conference is an ‘Open Space' event. Open Space is a way of organising a meeting so that there is maximum participation, energy and focus. Everyone who attends will have the chance to contribute to creating the agenda and using their time to discuss the issues that matter to them.

*If you want to know more about how Open Space works have a look at the website of our facilitator - Annette Zera - http://www.gettingonbrilliantly.co.uk

Cost

Attendance is free to delegates and is restricted to those working on Transformation Fund projects and representatives of key partner organisations involved in Transformation Fund projects

The Learning Revolution and the digital revolutionaries Conference - Special offer for Transformation Fund Projects

Thursday 11 February 2010
Walkers Stadium, Leicester City Football Club, Filbert Way, Leicester LE2 7FL

What can we learn from the use of technology for Informal Adult Learning? How do we secure a learning offer which ensures that adults get the real benefits of the digital world?

Background

As we enter the second decade of the twenty first century, digital technologies are playing a growing role in our lives and in our learning. The Independent Inquiry into the Future of Lifelong Learning recognised the need for a citizens' curriculum with particular acknowledgement of the importance of digital skills, to enable people to adapt to change, understand change and to be empowered to shape change.

This conference invites presenters and delegates to enter into a dialogue over what such a curriculum should mean for citizens, learners and for teachers. This dialogue can be located in the wider landscape described by the recent Harnessing Technology research, which continues to provide insights into the 'corporate capabilities' of learning organisations to embrace good use of technology.

Aims

The event is intended to support participants in developing their own professional practice whilst also providing a focus for contributions to their organisations' vision of how adults as learners can benefit most from the application of technology.

This should help participants in both the delivery of their programmes and the framing of strategic planning and funding applications.

Cost

Event fee per person: £35 For the first 85 Transformation Fund projects on a first-come first-served basis or £99 for subsequent projects.
