The ‘Learn in London’ website was a project to develop a pan-London portal capturing informal adult learning opportunities across the region. The project was intended to raise the profile of IAL across London and increase the numbers of people engaged in IAL activities. The portal is a key resource for 33 local authorities and the Corporation of London; enabling promotion and coordination of IAL across their boroughs. The portal’s comprehensive overview of IAL activity across London has enabled LAs to map existing provision and identify gaps, ultimately informing strategic planning within and across boroughs. The portal is also accessible to learners (by postcode/London Borough/interest), illustrating the range of opportunities available to them and enabling them to make informed choices about their learning opportunities. The portal offers a ‘one-stop-shop’ for information and directions on how to book and attend courses; including online feedback mechanisms, allowing learners to comment and suggest changes.
