'Time of Our Lives

'Time of Our Lives' will enable learners aged 60 and above to carry out research, work with BBC Radio Kent and University of Kent Multimedia students, gather and write stories, organise events, work with young people and artists and ultimately contribute to a major exhibition exploring the idea of 'Teenage'.

Army Arts

This project aims to open up access to adult learning in the arts for spouses of army personnel, improving connections between arts learning providers and army communities, encouraging ideas for new programmes and supporting learners create a thriving adult learning scene in the arts in army barracks nationwide

Back to the Future

Back to the Future involves a number of fun, interactive reminiscing workshops for adults living in Walton Court & Southcourt, Aylesbury. The workshops facilitate learners to identify personal and local history, a variety of media will capture this history. A finale event will conclude this learning, showcasing local learning through the project.

Berkshire Neighbourhood Learning Centre Partnership

The Digital Learning Champions project will reach out to those individuals that are at risk of being disconnected from the growing requirement of participation in learning and active citizenship. Working with existing Berkshire Neighbourhood Learning Centre Partnership members we will change the lives of 150 people in Berkshire.

Brighton and Hove Learning Partnership

The Brighton & Hove Adult Learning Festival connects and celebrates many different facets of learning in Brighton. It kicks off with an eye-catching, innovative & unique launch at the city's White Night Festival that invites residents to do something different in the middle of the night to celebrate the end of British Summer Time (BST).

Cashflow Club

Our innovative clubs provide a safe level platform to introduce and explore a variety of financial management techniques, including addressing debt and financial intelligence. Playing as part of a team, in a fun supportive environment, participants will learn tolerance, negotiation, critical and decision-making skills, inter-generational collaboration, mutual understanding and interdependence.

Creative Junction

Creative Junction in partnership with Slough Borough Council is developing 10 projects in partnership with 16 organisations across Slough. The aim of the programme is to develop a wide range of new learning partnerships that engage learners in a variety of community contexts with professionals from the creative and cultural sector.

Dig It

DIG IT in Cambridgshire works with 34 learners through Horticulture. They cannot attend Traditional learning. Learning through Gardening will enable learning such as communication, team work in the social community, Skills for Life preparation, to engage in improvement of their skills and ability to progress in learning via different methods.

Express Yourself!’ for Over-50s

Leys Community Development Initiative's Clockhouse Project (with community organizations Joined Up Singing and Blackbird Leys Art Group) is offering local over-50s the chance to ‘get creative'. Low-cost, drop-in taster sessions and regular informal learning groups in crafts, singing and painting will run in different venues all over the Leys estates.

Gardening Together

This project is to support elderly people living in sheltered accommodation to engage in, enjoy and benefit from gardening activities through a series of 10 week programmes. The programmes will be suitable for everyone, whether they have experience or have never had the opportunity to garden before.

Get Creative in Popley

"Get Creative in Popley" provides opportunities for Popley residents to talk part in a varied programme of creative activities. It seeks to promote community cohesion, particularly between younger and older persons, increasing wellbeing and reducing isolation. Augmenting confidence levels and the expanding the willingness to try something ensuring that all ages feel represented."

Get Into Reading

The project will build the capacity of Oxfordshire Mind and the County Library Service to deliver 6 ‘Get into Reading Groups' in mental health and community settings, benefiting 60 learners. It will demonstrate the intellectual, social and health benefits arising from this type of informal learning pioneered by the Reader Organisation.

Greener Living Learning

The BTCV / WWF-UK Greener Living Learning Project aims to enable 390 learners to gain the skills confidence and knowledge needed to live more sustainable lives. This innovative project will target adult learners who participate in conservation projects and help them discover how their personal consumptions patterns have an impact on their local environment.

Group for Education in Museums

Sounding Out Your Heritage will enable hard-to-reach over-60s in Kent and Medway to come together in small groups to explore their heritage. They will celebrate their achievements and produce resources, based on their discoveries, to share with others. Toolkits will help more over-60s to learn and shout about their heritage.

Medway Adult and Community Learning Service

The Discovery project will create a new, partnership within Medway, which is committed to promoting and supporting lifelong learning and the role of informal adult learning within that. We will raise the profile of IAL, collate and disseminate information about the numerous opportunities available and support 500 adults to learn something new.

Memories are made out of this

'Memories are made out of this' celebrates the past and creates new futures through the medium of radio and theatre. Devised by a new partnership between Portsmouths's community radio station Express FM and local theatre New Theatre Royal, memories from local people in the city will be collected and blended into a community radio soap, into live performance in the theatre and ultimately form part of a living memories wall in the rebuild of the theatre. A living legacy for the city.

Orleans House Gallery

Our programme will use 4 pilot projects explore how Orleans House Gallery can build a partnership network across our local community to support informal adult learning and promote cultural entitlement for adult learners, particularly the most vulnerable.

Parents with Prospects

The delivery of a 20 week parenting programme (20 weeks x 2hours, plus informal one to one mentoring and support) to socially excluded young parents (19 - 25) with additional support needs living in Supported Housing.

Through informal adult learning which achieves a customized award we hope to raise self-esteem and confidence. Confidence in parents enhances the lives of their children and so cycles of under-achievement can be broken in future generations.

Pod-casting 4 prosperity

Pod-casting 4 prosperity is a collaboration between Guildford College and Eagle Radio to make innovative use of broadcasting technologies and techniques to improve the life-skills, technological skills and to raise the aspirations of participating adult groups whilst increasing their awareness of, and participation in, voluntary and community work activities.

Portsmouth Informal Learning project

This PCC project of 10 learning providers will create 50 new learning volunteers; create new spaces and partnerships for learning, enhance existing arrangements and change the informal learning landscape of Portsmouth and increase the number of learning opportunities for Adults in the city with a focus on disadvantaged learners.

Pursing Independent Paths (PIP)

The PIPNet project will bring together the informal learning that PIP utilises with its service users together with creative direction provided by several Artists from the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA)

ReachAbility

This innovative project will pilot a new, empowering approach to learning on climate change with non-traditional learners across Oxford and rural Oxfordshire, while building a strong, cross-sector partnership for longer term work with communities most at risk from climate change.
The learner-led educational activities and materials created will be available for everyone online.

Reconnects CIC

This Oxfordshire based project focuses on learning to enable better management of stress. It will include taster courses and online learning for volunteers and staff in local authority departments, children's centres and campaigning organisations. It is a partnership between the Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust and a local social enterprise Reconnects.

Roots 4 Growth

Our aim is to encourage and develop a passion for learning in various parts of Hampshire by encouraging self-organising learning groups to form and grow. Our locally-based partnerships will encourage this growth so that new learners, ideas and creativity - influence and sustain ongoing development.

Screenreader.net

Screenreader.net are providing the blind and partially sighted with the training, tools and ongoing support to navigate key online learning resources and ‘sign posting' to locally provided learning courses. Learning sessions will take place in 50 blind association and blind charity venues throughout England.

Shaping Voices

We would provide over 50s with interactive, inspiring courses in IT, creative writing, music technology, and web design and maintenance. Each course includes learning handouts. A constituted creative arts group would result, and linked creative writing and music websites for all over 50s in East Sussex to contribute their compositions.

Southampton City Council

People in Southampton who want to learn skills to help them with everyday life will benefit from the LearningXchange clubs that the City Council's Learning and Skills and Libraries services will be providing along with local voluntary sector organisations. The clubs will encourage members to swap their skills and knowledge with others, e.g. tips on DIY, using home technologies, hobbies and housework.

St Denys Community Radio Project, Southampton

Learning how to make and broadcast radio, finding out how to access a podcast, and using local radio to promote community activities and build community identity are the themes of this neighbourhood learning project.

StoryBird

The StoryBird project aims to develop a successful framework for adult learning through storytelling. It will establish a pilot learner group among the parents and carers of children at Orchard Meadow Primary School, Blackbird Leys; create a range of innovative learning resources; and promote storytelling through local radio partner, JackFM.

Take a Chance

The "Take a Chance" scheme will offer taster sessions by means of a voucher scheme. The main aim of the scheme is to enhance the confidence and self belief of those involved in taster sessions, by ensuring the learning opportunities are accessible to all and delivered at an individual pace.

Thanet Champions

The Art of Possibilities

A pilot "informal family learning" opportunity; delivered in three hard to reach areas bringing together social care, family learning and community development.

The project will highlight the value of the arts as a language tool, rather than a subject; providing an accessible and relevant approach to learning for vulnerable groups.

The Canterbury project

The Canterbury project will encourage older people who have years of parenting experience to share their skills with new parents who aren't feeling confident or who may not have relatives of their own to talk to about all the joys and anxieties of being a mum or dad.  This kind of 'remembering' activity helps older people stay mentally, physically and socially active.

The Milton Keynes Festival of Learning

The MK Festival of Learning encourages adults to develop their confidence and be inspired to continue to develop their skills.

Adults who are:

  • suffering depression
  • homeless or in deprived communities with dependency issues
  • disadvantaged by a lack of computer skills
  • older learners not involved in their community

Transform IT

Transform IT - a project to transform the way information technology learning is delivered in the community. It will develop the capacity of a countywide tutor resource and trained intermediaries capable of using the latest technology, web and broadcasting in creative ways to bring new approaches to learning in the community.

Walk Tall Community Theatre Project

Walk Tall Community Theatre Project

Introduces learning in drama, dance, singing, theatre skills, film-making and photography to deprived, unemployed and vulnerable adults from 19 upwards. They will attend classes/workshops to learn skills and knowledge before applying them to a community performance event, TV docu-drama and photographic display.
