Birmingham Ethnic Education Advisory Service (BEEAS), created an informal learning environment to engage minority ethnic women. Participants were mainly Bangladeshi, Somali and Pakistani women who worked together to support the learners to develop, plan and implement learning projects and activities based on their own enthusiasms and concerns. Some of the women progressed into further learning through access to learning guidance and counselling . Findings and outcomes from the project were disseminated at best practice workshops throughout the city and in a report published for key stakeholders.
