This project, led by West Berkshire Council, brought together social care, the education service and community services to use the arts as a vehicle for nurturing life skills in vulnerable families from three local areas of deprivation. Women aged 19-35 who were affected by domestic violence and mental health issues took part in creative arts sessions that helped to build self-esteem and positivity, and provided opportunities for parents and children to learn together. The families then used their new skills and confidence in group-working to deliver a community arts event themed around local history.
